Dr. Swartz Elected to National Post

Dr. Ethné Swartz Elected as 2009 Director-at-large for The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship


BOCA RATON, FL, November 6, 2008 – The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (“USASBE”), the leading non-profit national organization dedicated to training the next generation of entrepreneurs and supporting the vital entrepreneur sector of our nation’s economy, announced today that Dr. Ethné Swartz from Silberman College of Business, Fairleigh Dickinson University, has been elected as one of USASBE’s Directors-At-Large for 2009.


“This certainly recognizes Dr. Swartz’s proven record of accomplishments and unbounded entrepreneurial spirit,” said Silberman Dean William M. Moore. “No doubt USASBE will benefit from her enormous energy, knowledge and experience.”

At FDU, Swartz is chair of Marketing and Entrepreneurial Studies, teaching courses in entrepreneurship, strategic management and innovation. Before joining the Silberman College of Business, she was on the faculty of DeMontfort University, Leicester, England, where she was instrumental in setting up a center for research on business continuity management. She also taught at universities in South Africa after a corporate career that included experience with The Economist Group and the South African offices of General Motors and Kodak.

Swartz is the co-author of “Business Continuity: A Crisis Management Approach” (Routledge, 2001) and holds a Ph.D. in management from The Manchester School of Management, University of Manchester Science and Technology Institute, United Kingdom. She has served as vice president for the Minority and Women’s Division of the USASBE and currently serves as the Competitive Cases Chair for the Association’s 2009 conference.
