Dr. Allen Fielding Receives Volunteer of the Year Award from FDU
Madison, NJ (October 4, 2007)—At an Alumni Awards ceremony held in conjunction with FDU’S annual Family/Homecoming Weekend at the College of Florham, Madison campus on Saturday, September 29, 2007, Dr. Allen Fielding, a resident of Philadelphia, PA, was presented with the Volunteer of the Year award. This award is given to an alumnus/alumna who has volunteered significant time to fostering the goals of the University.
In presenting the award, Nick Agostino, president of the Alumni Board of Governors, said, "the Alumni Board of Governors is proud to present this award to Dr. Allen Fielding. He is a wonderful example of the high quality of our alumni.”
Dr. Fielding’s affection for, and dedication to Fairleigh Dickinson University has been constantly expressed during the years by his generous financial contributions. A donor since 1998, he has pledged monies to establish the Allen Fred Fielding Scholarship, open to students majoring the FDU’S Pre-Dental program.
Dr. Fielding entered Fairleigh Dickinson’s five-year DDS program at the age of sixteen and received his DDS in dental medicine in 1963. In addition to his DDS from FDU, he holds an MD earned in Guyana and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Dr. Fielding served his residency at Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan and Philadelphia General Hospital.
An emeritus professor of Temple University School of Dentistry in Pennsylvania, where he taught in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Medicine and Surgery, Dr. Fielding also maintains private practices in the greater Philadelphia area. He is well known and respected in the field of oral maxillofacial surgery as the author of numerous articles, as a lecturer and as a participant in many presentations throughout the state and country.
