Dominican Ambassador to Speak at FDUís Metropolitan CampusTEANECK, N.J. (October 14, 2009)ó ďThe Dominican Republic: A Close Neighbor,Ē is the topic that H.E. Ambassador Federico Alberto Cuello Camilo, permanent representative of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations will present on November 4, 2009, at Fairleigh Dickinson Universityís Metropolitan Campus, Teaneck, N.J.
Cuello Camilo was appointed permanent representative of the Dominican Republic earlier this year. Prior to this appointment, he served from 2005 to 2009 as the ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, the European Communities, the Czech Republic, and the Republic of Poland. He also served as the ambassador to the European Office of the U.N. and to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, from 1999 to 2002.
Outside of the diplomatic service, Cuello Camilo has also served in official capacities in the Dominican government. He served as an economic advisor to the Chamber of Deputies from 2003-2004 and a vice-minister of economics from 1995-1999.
Cuello Camilo holds a Ph.D. in regional science and development economics from the University of Illinois. From 1993-1994, he served as the director of the School of Economics of the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo and in 2003, he became a research professor of economics at the Pontifical Catholic University. He has published a number of books, monographs, and academic papers.

The opportunity to hear the ambassador and join the audience question-and-answer session is free and open to the public. Light refreshments are available at 6 p.m. and the lecture will begin at 6:30. The question-and-answer session will follow the discussion between Ambassador Ahmad Kamal of the Ambassadorís Club at the U.N. and H.E. Ambassador Cuello Camilo and will end at 8:00.
