Lori Lee Dickson Elected to Lead University’s Alumni Board of Governors

Madison, NJ (August 11, 2005) — Lori Lee Dickson, Esq., a resident of Pound Ridge, NY, has been elected President of the University’s Alumni Board of Governors. The organization she leads represents the more than 100,000 FDU alumni worldwide. During her two-year term, Dickson will officially represent the Alumni Board on FDU’s Board of Trustees.

Born in Morristown, NJ, Ms. Dickson was raised in Lebanon Township in rural Hunterdon County, NJ, and graduated with honors from Voorhees High School. After graduating magna cum laude from Fairleigh Dickinson, she taught English in Hackettstown, NJ, and Mt. Arlington, NJ.

Following her experience as an educator, she entered the corporate world as manager of marketing and administration for an environmental services firm, where she became interested in legal issues and the environment. This growing interest led her to pursue a legal career, and she earned her Juris Doctorate at St. John’s University in Queens, NY. During her legal career, she has focused on land use, real property (zoning and planning), environmental compliance and related litigation.

Ms. Dickson has maintained close contact with Fairleigh Dickinson, recalling the semester she spent at FDU’s Wroxton College in England as one of her most memorable experiences. In 1998, she was the keynote speaker at the 35th anniversary celebration for Wroxton in 1998 .

Karen Lewis, assistant vice president for alumni relations, said, “Lori Lee is a dedicated and valued member of the Fairleigh Dickinson alumni community and I am very eager to work with her and the Board of Governors. Lori Lee is only the second woman in our history to serve as the President of the Board of Governors and I am very confident that she will continue the momentum needed to move our alumni association and its constituents to even greater success.”

Dickson chaired the Alumni-in-Admissions Committee where she was instrumental in coordinating alumni efforts in the admissions and recruiting processes for the University. Honored with both the CASTLE award and the Alumni Loyalty Award, she is a frequent panelist for career services and admission programs. She has participated in on-campus interviewing of candidates for University-based scholarships and has represented FDU at numerous presidential inaugurations at area colleges.

Currently a resident of Pound Ridge, NY, Dickson is a member of the Westchester Women’s Bar and the American Bar Associations.
