"Australia in the World Today"
Ambassador Dauth To SpeakMadison, NJ – September 14, 2003 - Australia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, John Dauth, will speak on "Australia in the World Today" at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham on Wednesday, September 17. The 6:30 p.m. lecture will be held in Lenfell Hall, The Mansion, and is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served at 6 p.m.
Ambassador Dauth has been permanent representative of Australia to the United Nations since 2001. He joined the then Department of External Affairs in 1969 as an external affairs officer, later serving as a Foreign Affairs Officer in Lagos.
In 1974, he was appointed First Secretary and Deputy Head of Mission in Islamabad, after which, from 1977 until 1980, he was seconded to Buckingham Palace as Assistant Press Secretary to the Queen and Press Secretary to the Prince of Wales.
After heading the Commonwealth and Multilateral Organization Section in the Department of Foreign Affairs in Canberra, Dauth was appointed Charge d’Affaires in the Australian Embassy, Tehran, from 1983-1985. He also served as Australia’s High Commissioner to Malaysia.
Dauth took his appointment as Australia’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York, in September 2001.
