Partnership Agreement with Cumberland County College Signed
Teaneck, NJ (February 4, 2003) — At signing ceremonies today, Fairleigh Dickinson University entered into a Community College Partnership arrangement with Cumberland County College, Vineland, NJ. The partnership gives individuals who have an associate degree the opportunity to complete the bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University on their own community college campus.
Dr. J. Michael Adams, president of Fairleigh Dickinson, and Dr. Kenneth Ender, CCC president finalized the agreement that includes criminal justice, business and technology, sociology, humanities, education, and nursing as the areas of study offered by Fairleigh Dickinson at Cumberland County College.
According to Adams, "The partnership provides new and exciting educational opportunities. Close to home and work, it allows area residents to complete upper division courses that are required for select Fairleigh Dickinson undergraduate degree programs on the community college campus."
"We are very excited," CCC President Ender said. "This agreement will empower many students who didn’t have an opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree. Education provides opportunities for individuals and encourages economic development."
Fairleigh Dickinson has similar agreements with Burlington County College, Gloucester County College, Raritan Valley Community College, and Atlantic Cape Community College.
Gary Hamme, Fairleigh Dickinson vice president for enrollment management said, "This educational initiative responds to trends in business and society and builds on Fairleigh Dickinson University’s strengths, including its extensive global programs, and reputation as a preferred provider of quality higher education services in New Jersey."
