FDU Club to Meet for Dinner and Networking April 2

Madison, NJ (March 11, 2008) — Joe Cozza, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Cipriani U.S.A. and the Les Amis d’Escoffier Society 2007 Man of the Year, will be the featured speaker at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s FDU Club event on April 2. Over his 30-year career, Cozza has worked for some of the most prominent names in the hospitality business. 

The FDU Club, an organization established to encourage networking, socialization and learning among FDU alumni, will host the event from 6-8 p.m. at The Madison Hotel, 1 Convent Road, Morristown, NJ. Along with Cozza’s speech, entitled “Event and Catering Trends in 2009,” guests will enjoy a three-course dinner and the opportunity to network.

Cozza, who graduated magna cum laude from FDU in 1974, has held various executive positions with Sheraton, Hyatt, Fairmont, and Marriot Coporations. In his current position with Cipriani U.S.A., his responsibilities include developing marketing plans, public relations strategies, creating and implementing business plans, marketing positioning statements and price strategies and designing programs to increase customer preference and brand loyalty. Cipriani operates three premier and historic event locations in New York: the Rainbow Room, Cipriani 42nd Street and Cipriani 55 Wall Street. Cipriani also operates international restaurants and is currently developing luxury hotels, resorts and residences.

Honored numerous times for his achievement in the field of hospitality, Cozza has been presented with the Emma Lazarus Award, given by the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York. The Italian Wine and Food Institute honored him with the Outstanding Achievement in the field of Food and Wine. In 2003, he was inducted into the BizBash Media Hall of Fame for his years of service in the New York event market.  Cozza was also the honoree for the Learning for Life Bill Gallo Sports Award Gala benefiting scouting. In 2006, he was named the Hospitality Professional of the Year by the Food and Beverage Manager’s Association of America. Most recently, he was awarded the 20th Year Anniversary Honoree Award by the International Special Events Society New York Metro Chapter.

An active member of the Hospitality Industry and various philanthropic organizations, Cozza is currently president of the New York chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE). He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Service, Sports Angels, Inside Broadway, and is a previous member of the Advisory Board of Special Events Magazine. Cozza participates on the Board of Alumni Advisors for Fairleigh Dickinson University’s International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for New York Committee for BAT (Baseball Assistance Team), Major League Baseball’s organization for former players in need. Cozza has co-chaired the annual Boy Scouts of America Hospitality Industry Luncheon. 

Cozza is a member is several of the industry’s professional societies, including Meeting Planners International (MPI), Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI), International Special Events Society (ISES), the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce, British American Business and the American Theatre Wing.
