Former NJ Governor Richard Codey will speak and sign copies of his book at FDU in Madison
MADISON, NJ (October 17, 2011)—New Jersey State Senator Richard J. Codey will present at FDU’s College at Florham on Thursday, Oct. 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Rothman Building. Bruce Peabody, a political science professor, will interview Codey on his book published earlier this year, “Me, Governor? Life in the Rough-and-Tumble of New Jersey Politics,” with an opportunity for an audience question-and-answer to follow. Codey’s book will be available for purchase, and he will sign copies after his presentation.
An FDU alumnus (BA ’81, Education), Codey began his career in state government in 1973 when we has elected to the Assembly at the age of 26, becoming the youngest person to ever be elected to the Legislature. He served four terms before being elected to the New Jersey State Senate in 1981. As State Senator, he represents the 27th legislative district in Essex County.
After serving three decades in the state legislature, Codey was selected Senate President in 2004. When Governor James McGreevey resigned before his term expired, Codey assumed the governorship, serving as governor of New Jersey from November 2004 to January 2006.
