All Season Chamber Players to Celebrate Chopin and Schumann

Teaneck – Hackensack, NJ  (March 5, 2010) The All Seasons Chamber Players, one of New Jersey’s most popular and active chamber music ensembles, will present “200th Birthday Celebration: Chopin and Schumann” honoring Frederic Chopin and Robert Schumann on Sunday, April 18th at 3 p.m. in Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Edward Williams Hall, 150 Kotte Place, Hackensack, NJ.

Featured will be Schumann’s “Pictures from the East for Piano Duet, op. 66,” a romantic work with echoes of the “Til Eulenspiegel” story, and Chopin’s rarely heard “Trio in G Minor for Piano, Violin and Cello, op. 8.” In addition, two baroque works that influenced these composers, Handel’s beautiful “Sonata in D Major for Violin and Continuo” and Francois Couperin’s “Pieces en Concert for Cello and Piano,” will be included.  Robert Lawrence, Co-Director for Programs will introduce each piece and furnish spoken program notes.

Now in its 29th season, the All Seasons Chamber Players has performed over 600 live concerts in the metropolitan area. In addition, thousands of people have heard the ensemble on local cable TV stations.  Ensemble performers are professional musicians who also play with major area orchestras, Broadway shows and summer music festivals. They include Robert Lawrence, violin; E. Zoe Hassman, cello; and Yoojin Oh and Jean Strickholm, piano.

Winner of the Award for Artistic Excellence from the Bergen County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the ensemble has also received grants from several corporate and private sources.

The Cultural Arts Department of FDU’s Petrocelli College sponsors the concert and art show.  The public is invited to come at 2 p.m. to enjoy a reception and art exhibit of works by Daniel Borlandelli, entitled “Collaged Paintings” in the Edward Williams Gallery.

Admission to the concert, reception and art exhibit is free and all are welcome.  There is ample parking and seating and reservations are not needed.  For further information call 201-768-1331 (the All Seasons Chamber Players), 201-692-7032 (FDU Public Relations) or visit
