Carfora, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of Penn Federal Savings Bank, has received the highest award Fairleigh Dickinson University can bestow on its alumni. In a ceremony held June 4, 2004, Carfora was inducted into The Pinnacle.Pinnacle recipients are chosen on the basis of success or distinction in their chosen fields; significant contributions to society and humanity through public or humanitarian service; and outstanding service to the university or reflection of the unique character of Fairleigh Dickinson in their lives. Carfora began his career in 1980 with Coopers & Lybrand, CPAs (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and then joined Marine Midland Bank as a financial officer. He later served as assistant comptroller for Carteret Savings Bank. He earned his master’s degree in finance as well as his CPA license while working full time. Carfora joined Penn Federal in 1993 as chief financial officer and was instrumental in the bank’s initial public offering in July 1994. He was promoted to his current position in October 2001. In addition to his professional endeavors, Carfora is dedicated to numerous civic and charitable organizations. He is the incoming president of the Roseland Chapter of UNICO National and has worked diligently to raise funds for the New York City Police and Firefighter’s Widows’ and Children’s Fund, the American Heart Association, the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, and St. John’s “Feed the Hungry” program. Carfora earned his bachelor of science degree and his MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He resides in Whippany, NJ, with his wife Karel and daughter Kristin. | ||
