Fairleigh Dickinson University presents Sarah Canfield’s Oil and Pastel paintings on display at Edward Williams Gallery December 1, 2012 to February 2, 2013
Teaneck, NJ (November 28, 2012) — Oil and pastel paintings by Sarah Canfield will be on display at the Edwards Williams Gallery, on Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus from December 1 to February 2, 2013.
Canfield’s paintings explore feelings and relationships through still life. They use rich color and enlarge my subjects to many times their actual size so the paintings seem even more real than they are in life.
In her works butterflies represent a theme of transformation. As the paintings progressed, she discovered that the colors and patterns in their wings contrast the daily objects of her life including electrical wires from a fluorescent light and even my living room couch. Canfield uses altered angles and perspectives to create a sense of movement and energy in each piece. Her goal is to invite her viewers to see reality in a different and unexpected way.
