Wilbert “Rudy” Burton Honored with Pillar Award

Madison, NJ –(September 11, 2008) - Wilbert “Rudy” Burton of Newark, N.J., was honored by Fairleigh Dickinson University as a “Pillar” of the campus community at the Academic Convocation held at FDU’s College at Florham on September 10, 2008.

The Pillar Award recognizes exceptional individuals within the University, who, over time have made extraordinary contributions to the character and quality of the institution, its community, and its cultures.

“Without you, the campus grinds to a halt,” said Provost Kenneth Greene. “Your efforts truly fuel the academic operation, aligning with precision faculty, students and classrooms.”

As the Scheduling Officer in the Office of Enrollment Services at FDU’s College at Florham, located in Madison, N.J. Burton performs an unnoticed but essential and monumental task, telling faculty and students where they are supposed to be.

On campus, where space is a valuable premium, Burton, with his exceptional memory and attention to detail, finds and aligns the locations of classes and classrooms, solving the jigsaw puzzle that needs to be re-created every semester.

Burton has been with FDU for more than 20 years. He is a resident of Newark and the son of Berletha Burton of Newark.
