“Reliefs in Flight” works by Janet L. Bohman on exhibit at Fairleigh Dickinson University

Teaneck, NJ (August 10, 2009) “Reliefs in Flight: Sculptured Paper and Linens” works by Janet L. Bohman will be on exhibit at Fairleigh Dickinson University September 2 through October 2, 2009.

Bohman’s theme, “Reliefs in Flights”, features her series “Flexing”. The “Flexing “ reflects Bohman’s fascination with birds in flight “I have always been inspired by birds flying freely” she says. The smaller sculptures, in the series, reflect the birds attempt to achieve flight, while the larger reflect the actual flight, as the sculptures appear to leave the wall. Bohman states that “Between the birds and colorful sunsets, I have visions of beauty which I like to translate for others to enjoy in this less the peaceful world”.

A native of Brooklyn, NY, Bohman has painted since the age 5. Since the mid 1970’s she has explored different mediums to move from two-dimensional paintings into painted reliefs and has refined her skills in her signature format of multi-planed structures. Bohman holds a BFA from Pratt Institute and an MA from New York University.

Throughout her career Bohman has participated in over 100 exhibitions, 16 being solo exhibitions and 7 group shows in Japan. Over time, Bohman has adopted the philosophy that art should be beautiful and should contribute to the emotional well being and aspiration of the viewer.
