Opera at Florham to Sponsor A Night Club Evening
Opera Benefit to Feature Valerie Bernhardt
Opera at Florham, a professional opera company in residence on Farleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham campus, 285 Madison Avenue (Route 124), in Madison, N.J., is sponsoring a “Night Club Evening” Saturday, May 12 at 8 p.m. at Lenfell Hall, The Mansion, 285 Madison Avenue (Route 124) in Madison.
The evening includes entertainment, hors d’oeuvres, wine and spirits. Tickets are $45 per person, of which a portion ($30) is tax deductible. Reservations are required. For more information or to reserve, call (973)-770-0079.
Lyric soprano Valerie Bernhardt, a former winner of the Violetta DuPont Opera Vocal Competition, will headline the entertainment. Bernhardt has already performed a wide variety of roles in her young career. She sang the roles of Pamina and the first Lady in “Die Zauberflote,” Mimi in “La Boheme,” Valentine in “Les Huguenots,” and Lauretta in “Gianni Schicchi.” She made her Carnegie Hall debut singing the role of Odetta in Donizetti’s “Adelia,” and her New York City Opera debut in Janacek’s “The Cunning Little Vixen.”
A native of New Jersey, Bernhardt has earned two graduate degrees in voice from The Juilliard School, and has trained at Chautauqua, Aspen, The Pittsburgh Opera Center and the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program. She has distinguished herself in various competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council, the Palm Beach Vocal Competition, as well as the Opera at Florham Competition.
