Opera at Florham to Open Season with “Autumn Leaves” Cabaret
Madison, NJ (September 13, 2011) — The opening cabaret of the 2011-2012 Opera at Florham season, “Autumn Leaves” will be performed on Sunday, September 25, at 3 p.m., in Lenfell Hall in The Mansion at the College at Florham of Fairleigh Dickinson University. Tailgating begins at 2 p.m. and light refreshments will be served.
The cabaret will feature over a dozen songs, performed by, sopranos Corinne Schaefer and Stephanie Melzi, and tenor Kevin Peters, accompanied by pianist John Pivarnik. Among others, songs will include Till There Was You from The Music Man, and Quel guardo il cavaliere from Don Pasquale sung by Schaefer. Melzi will sing Non so piu cosa son from The Marriage of Figaro and L’Amor est un oiseay rebelle from Carmen. Also, Basilio’s Aria from The Marriage of Figaro, Dalla sua pace from Don Giovanni will be sung by Peters.
Corinne Schaefer and Stephanie Melzi were both finalists earlier this year in the Opera at Florham’s Violetta DuPont Vocal Competition. Kevin Peters has performed previously for the Opera at Florham, singing in Rigoletto and La Traviata. Pianist/vocal accompanist John Pivarnik of Madison, NJ is organist/choirmaster at Christ Church in Short Hills and he teaches piano privately at his home studio and at Christ Church.
Individual tickets are $35, Seniors $30, and Students $10 up to age 22, and can be ordered by calling 973-443-8620. Checks are to be mailed to OAF, PO Box 343, Convent Station, NJ, 07961. Patrons can order a package to this seasons three Cabarets for a discounted rate of $90 and Seniors for $85.
