Argentine Representative to the United Nations to Speak
Madison, NJ - October 3 - Fairleigh Dickinson University's United Nations Pathway Lecture Series continues on Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at the University's College at Florham, Madison, NJ. Arnoldo Listre, the Permanent Representative of Argentina to the United Nations, will present a lecture "Financial Crises in Latin America."
Listre, who holds a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires, is a noted author and lecturer on the management of the continental shelf and the development of the law of the sea and international rivers. He served as his country's representative to the United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea.
Prior to his appointment to the United Nations Listre had a long and distinguished diplomatic career. Since 1985 he has served as Argentina's Ambassador to Nigeria (1985-1987), Hungary (1987-1989) and the Russian Federation (1994-2000). While Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Listre also served as the Argentine representative to Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
Listre has also held many positions within the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including, Counsul General of the Argentine Trade Promotion Center in New York, Director General of Personnel, and Chairman of the Argentine Delegation to the Commission for the Administration of the River Plate.
The Ambassador's Club at the United Nations presents Listre's lecture, part of the United Nations Pathway Series at Fairleigh Dickinson University. The lecture, held in Lenfell Hall, The Mansion, at Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham, Madison, begins at 6:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
