Nick Agostino Elected to Lead University’s Alumni Board of Governors
Teaneck, NJ (August 21, 2007) — Nick Agostino has been elected president of Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Alumni Board of Governors. The organization he leads represents the more than 100,000 FDU alumni worldwide. During his two-year term, Agostino will officially represent the Alumni Board on FDU’s Board of Trustees.
Agostino holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He has served as the executive committee vice president of the Board since 1998 and has chaired a host of committees — spanning awards, student relations, Alumni in Admissions, alumni research, special events, Senior Class Gift and the Annual Fund.
In 2005, he was honored with the “Volunteer of the Year” award from the Alumni Association of the University. The award is given to alumni who have contributed significantly to academic programs, admissions, athletics, career development, chapters, fundraising and student life.
FDU’s Director of Alumni Relations, Okang McBride, said, “Nick’s commitment to the university both as a volunteer and donor is admirable. I look forward to working with him and the entire Alumni Association Board of Governors. I know Nick will have the support and input of the alumni community during his presidential term.”
In addition to teaching classes in genetics, microbiology, immunology, environmental science and biotechnology at FDU, Agostino mentors independent studies and coordinates the Biology Seminar Series for the School of Natural Sciences.
Agostino is a senior research scientist at the LIJ-Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Columbia University, where he does immunological research in the area of rheumatoid arthritis. This research has resulted in the publication of more than 25 articles in peer reviewed scientific journals.
