British Police band to Play at FDU in Honor of 9/11 Anniversary
Teaneck, NJ (August 18, 2011) —The West Yorkshire Police Band will be playing at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus in Hackensack, NJ, in honor of the tenth anniversary of 9/11 on September 9, 2011 from 7 – 9 p.m. in Wilson Auditorium in Dickinson Hall. Admission is free but registration is required. Seating is first come, first serve.
The West Yorkshire Police Band is a 35-piece band made up of performers who are current or retired police officers or part of the larger law enforcement family in the U.K. The band has been around in one shape or another since 1899 and in its current iteration, plays music in a traditional brass band format. This event is sponsored by FDU’s Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies in partnership with the American British Law Enforcement Educational Exchange (ABLE3). “We are very pleased to join ABLE3 in this endeavor,” said Kenneth Vehrkens, dean of Petrocelli College. ABLE3 is a Paramus-based nonprofit that works to further solidarity between New York City and the U.K. Since 2002, ABLE3 has brought over British police officers every year for the anniversary of 9/11.
FDU’s Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies, formed in 1998, addresses the unique educational needs of nontraditional students including adult learners. The college has an enrollment of over 10,000 credit and non-credit bearing students.
