Giants Steps for 9/11 Walk and Family Fun Day will be held on October 17, 2010Teaneck, NJ (September 29, 2010) – Fairleigh Dickinson University’s alumnus and retired co-captain of the Super Bowl New York Football Giants George Martin invites you for the “Giant Walk for 9/11 Walk and Family Fun Day” on Sunday, October 17, 2010. The event is the second annual walk to commemorate George Martin’s historic walk across America to support the heroes of Ground Zero. This year’s walk will begin at the George Washington Bridge and end at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, N.J. The registration fee is $35 and $10 for FDU community and their guests. The program will raise money for 9/11 rescue workers who have significant health problems.
Established in 2007 by George Martin, a Journey for 9/11 is a non-profit organization created to raise funds and awareness to help the first responders of 9/11. Today, a Journey for 9/11 continues as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has raised more than $5 million to date. Through regular fundraising events, individual and corporate sponsorships, and the help of three area medical institutions, they provide medical care for 9/11 first responders at:
· Mount Sinai Medical Center
· Hackensack University Medical Center
· North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System
These institutions have generously agreed to offer a dollar-for- dollar match in medical services for each dollar they receive from a Journey for 9/11.
