Madison, NJ (January 30, 2014) — Calling all New Jersey high school students with bright ideas! The competition is open for New Jersey’s best, commercially feasible ideas.

Celebrating its eleventh anniversary, the 2014 New Jersey Idea Competition is open to all high school students (grades 9 – 12). The deadline for applications is February 16, and the winners will be announced and honored on the evening of March 28, 2014 at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham, Madison, NJ.

The competition divides the state into three regions: north (Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, Morris, Essex, and Warren Counties); central (Hunterdon, Somerset, Union, Middlesex, Mercer, and Hudson Counties); and south (Monmouth, Ocean, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Atlantic, Salem, Cumberland, and Cape May Counties).

Each region will recognize 4 finalists and 8 semi-finalists who will be awarded $250 and $100, respectively. In addition, a grand prize winner will be chosen from each region and receive an additional $250 each plus a special prize from the New York Jets. By leveraging social media, all winners will have the opportunity to double their prize money by getting their friends and family to vote for their idea. Therefore, regional winners can win up to $1000, finalists up to $500 and semifinalists up to $200, with a total of over $13,500 awarded in cash and prizes. Additional prizes will be awarded to ideas pertaining to social innovation and sustainability.
