Learning Outcomes Assessment Website Launched
A website for student learning outcomes assessment (LOA) at Fairleigh Dickinson University was launched by the Provost’s Learning Outcomes Assessment Advisory Committee (PLOAAC) in April.
The site (http://www.fdu.edu/outcomes) serves as a resource for the faculty as they work on this important initiative (see March issue http://inside.fdu.edu/otw/1003/assessment.html). Learning outcomes assessment goals, which are explained in detail on the site, include written communication, oral communication, information literacy, quantitative literacy, global understanding, cultural understanding, critical thinking and scientific analysis.
Links on the site include common vocabulary, sample template for planning, examples of direct and indirect evidence, helpful websites, library resources, information literacy and professional development opportunities.
“The PLOAAC will use this site to inform the faculty of our progress as well as to continue to share useful information,” said Marlene Rosenbaum, education and associate University provost for learning outcomes assessment (Metro/Flor), who chairs the committee. The committee will coordinate, facilitate and assist in the implementation of student learning outcomes assessment goals across the University.
