![]() University Honors Program Research Presented Graduating students from the University Honors Program presented their senior honors theses during this year’s Annual Research Days. The University Honors Program provides an intellectually stimulating experience to FDU’s most accomplished undergraduates through honors courses and research projects. The students’ research projects, which were each completed in collaboration with a faculty mentor, were presented on April 19 at the College at Florham, and on April 20 at the Metropolitan Campus. Research on “Israel’s Energy Economy,” “Women and Gender Roles in 1950s American Literature” and “An Introduction to Category Theory” were among those presented by 11 students at the College at Florham. Faculty mentors were Gloria Anderle, chemistry; Paul Benzing, biology; Kenneth Betz, economics; John Cinco, computer graphics; Nandita Ghosh, English; Krista Jenkins, political science; Jennifer Lehr, communication; June Middleton, biology and chair, biological/allied health sciences; Richard Wagner, mathematics; and Lona Whitmarsh, psychology and director, MA in clinical/counseling. Marilyn Rye, English/communications and associate campus provost (Flor), is director of the University Honors Program at the College at Florham. At the Metropolitan Campus, 24 students presented research on topics such as “The Constitutionality and Ramifications of Gun Control,” “The MySpace Phenomenon” and “Microorganisms and Biofuels.” Faculty and staff mentors were Eli Amdur, business; Antoinette Anastasia, biological sciences; Alice Benzecry, biological sciences; Richard Castellana, humanities/fine arts and director, interdisciplinary studies; Theodore Chesler, communications/English; Karen Denning, finance; James Dougherty, chemistry and associate director, chemistry; Samuel Feinberg, school psychology; Richard Gray, criminal justice; David Hanson, art; Judith Kaufman, psychology and director, MA in general/theoretical psychology; James Kenny, criminal justice; Seonja Kim, mathematics; Mihaela Leonida, chemistry; Tina LoPonte, communication; Bernard Reiner, political science; Gloria Reinish, electrical engineering; Patrick Reynolds, criminal justice and assistant director, criminal justice; Janet Sigal, psychology and coordinator, BA/MA general/theoretical psychology; and Robert Vodde, director, criminal justice.
