It’s official: FDU-Vancouver faculty, staff and students have access to an additional 18,590 square feet on the second floor of the campus building on Cambie Street. The added space increases the campus’s capacity to educate nearly 1,000 students.
“The ribbon-cutting ceremony was a banner affair with representatives from the higher education, diplomatic, business and social communities present,” says FDU-Vancouver Campus Provost Cecil Abrahams. “It was an exciting and dynamic way of demonstrating the growth of our campus over the past five years. It was, indeed, a coming out event that will help to transform the higher education environment in Vancouver.”
The campus expansion includes room for a full library and student learning center combination, with space for tutorial services. Teaching space increases with the addition of seven more classrooms.
Renovations to the first floor — scheduled to start this month with completion expected by June — will provide more social and study spaces for students.
The new second floor space houses the learning resources office, the student lounge in enrollment services and the library amongst others.
