Spotlight on New Faculty—a Q&A with Professor J.C. Kim
Interview by Jenny Connell
FDU welcomes the newest assistant professor in sports administration, Jong-Chae “J.C.” Kim, to Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies. Kim teaches at the graduate and undergraduate level and hopes to set high achievable goals for his students.
FDU: Tell us about your new position…
J.C.K: I am going to teach MSA (Master of Sport Administration) and SPAD (Sport Administration).
FDU: What sparked your passion in this field?
J.C.K: I played several sports such as baseball, soccer, tennis, golf, and skiing. I was never a student athlete in my undergraduate years, but I did partake in spreading college spirit! I also love teaching because I can learn something new everyday from my students and colleagues.
FDU: What is something that you would like to contribute to FDU?
J.C.K: Hopefully, with hard work and good work ethics, I can become a good asset for my program and eventually for FDU.
FDU: What do you want your students to walk away with from your class?
J.C.K: I want my students to set, confirm, and eventually achieve their goals throughout my classes and in their future.
FDU: What is something that most people wouldn’t know about you?
J.C.K: I am going to be the faculty advisor for the FDU Korean Student Association, and that I received my masters in sports management at Texas A&M University and my Ph.D in sports management at Florida State University. Also, one of my dreams is to be a university president someday. I do not know where yet.
