Ah, the lazy days of summer. Well, not for those working to improve the infrastructure and beautify Fairleigh Dickinson University’s New Jersey campuses. For them, it has been a busy, busy season.
“The University community and its supporters continue to invest heavily in the beautiful physical space we have inherited, looking forward to welcoming new students and future alumni,” said College at Florham Provost Peter Woolley regarding the changes and upgrades.
Several items on the ambitious list of projects have been completed at the College at Florham. The former Nathans in the Stadler Zenner Hofman-LaRoche Building (ZEN) has been entirely rebuilt and is offering healthy cuisine under its new name Leafs and Grains. The grand opening took place Tuesday, Sept. 17.
The Bottle Hill Room has been renovated, including new flooring and furniture. New furniture, new doors, and new floor tile are also featured in the mall of the Student Center. Some of the (HVAC) units have also been upgraded in the Student Center as well as in Ferguson Recreation Center.
The ZEN also has new LED panels in rooms 104 and 206. Two rooms have been outfitted with high definition projectors. The ZEN also has updated men’s and women’s washrooms as well as landscaping and curbs.
Four rooms in Hennessy Hall now have HD projectors and so do the computer labs in Dreyfuss.
Buildings 1, 2, and 3 in the Village have new heating, ventilation/air conditioning units. Buildings 1 and 2 also have 20 completely renovated bathrooms.
Throughout campus, extensive landscaping upgrades, seeding, planting and pruning have taken place as well as the upgrading of campus signage and repainting of lines on roads and parking lots. Buildings 1, 2, and 6 feature new electrical conduits, wiring and receptacles.
In front of the I-Wing of Hamilton-Twombly, new walks, curbs, and landscaping have been installed.
Several projects using state bond money are ongoing. With those funds, four new smart classrooms will be added to the ZEN
and the Monninger Center
; the Black Box Theatre
will be completely rebuilt; a film editing studio will be added in Dreyfuss
; and the School of Education in the courtyard of Hennessy Hall
will be gutted, waterproofed, and rebuilt. Since you've been gone: Metropolitan Campus summer renovations
