About the Editor:
Frank Occhiogrosso received his BA in English from St. John’s University, and MA and PhD from Johns Hopkins University. Since 1970 he has taught at Drew University, where he is currently Professor of English. Former chair of the English Department and convenor of the English Graduate Area, he was named Teacher-Scholar of the Year in the Caspersen School of Graduate Studies at Drew in 1997 and also Thomas H. Kean Professor of the Year in 2006. A member of the Shakespeare Association of America and the Columbia Shakespeare Seminars, he organized two conferences in Shakespearean performance studies at Drew, from which have come Shakespeare in Performance: A Collection of Essays (UDP, 2003) and the present volume.

The ten essays collected together here are all in the field of Shakespearean performance studies. They represent the areas of stage history, performance structure, Shakespeare on film, the physical playhouse, the phenomenon of cross-dressing, and cultural history reflected in stage direction.
